The Lower Mahanadi sub-basin comprises of the catchment area of Mahanadi river from Tikarapara to the sea. The sub-basin lies between the north latitudes of 19° 43’ and 20°47’ and east longitudes of 84° 21’ and 86°50’. The catchment area of the sub-basin is 17,589 km2, which is 12.42% of the Mananadi basin. The catchment area of Lower Mahanadi sub-basin upto Manibhadra site is 1820km2.
